Dr Harvey is a very thoughtful and approachable healthcare professional. I have been in his care for the last 18 months and have always found him to be very caring, knowledgeable and great at what he does. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to family and friends should the need arise. Keep up the good work, Dr Harvey!

I cannot fault Mr Harvey in the treatment that I had with him. My surgery that I had was due to a childhood illness, and so was quite rare compared to his other patients. Because of this, I was at first a bit unsure of whether to actually go through with the surgery. However, Mr Harvey was very kind and helpful and aided me in understanding the procedure. He ensured I was confident with what was going to happen and guided me through the whole process. The results of the procedure have made me feel a lot more confident with myself and I will be having further surgery with Mr Harvey in the coming spring, in which I am looking forward to being in his treatment again.

Mr James Harvey

Thank you so much for your kind words. we are looking forward to seeing you again in the Spring.

I met Mr Harvey in March 2016 after being diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer and I was terrified. I hadn't slept for 3 weeks, couldn't think straight and was in shock. At my appointment Mr Harvey took me through my diagnosis step by step and reassured me that he could help and I was going to get through this terrible time. He made me feel so calm that I slept that night, a fantastic unbroken sleep! The plan was to have a wide local incision (WLE/Lumpectomy) and sentinel nodes removed about a week later. When I woke up from the surgery I was surprised that my breasts looked exactly as they were before surgery, just with small neat scars! I'm not sure what I expected but the result definitely exceeded my expectations. During chemotherapy (after the lumpectomy), I decided I wanted a double mastectomy. Initially Mr Harvey wanted me to think about it and, understandably, he needed to be sure that I wasn't making a snap decision. I had several more appointments where he gave me information each time but when he realised that I definitely wanted the surgery Mr Harvey arranged for me to see a psychologist (which is standard procedure). Once I was given the go ahead from the Psychologist, Mr Harvey explained all the different types of mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and to allow me to explore all options, he also referred me to a colleague to discuss a DIEP reconstruction. I actually met with two other surgeons to discuss the DIEP but they all agreed with Mr Harvey that implants would give me the best outcome. Interestingly, implants were bottom of my wish list but the more I discussed the procedure the more I realised that they would be the correct option for me. Once we had agreed on implants, we then discussed size, shape, above/below the muscle and also having a free nipple graft (which is where your nipples are re-used so that you have very natural looking breasts after the operation which is a highly skilled procedure and not offered by many surgeons). On the day of surgery I was very nervous but Mr Harvey was once again so calm that it rubbed off on me and I had great faith that I was going to have a good outcome. I wasn't wrong. The mastectomy was nothing short of amazing. The scars are neat and small, the nipples are amazing and the healing was quick. I am actually very proud of my new breasts and am in awe of Mr Harvey's skills. Several nurses who looked after me after the operation were astonished at how good they looked and were highly complimentary. Interestingly, a trainee nurse watched the operation (with my prior consent) and the day after visited me and told me how impressed she had been at Mr Harvey's precise work and how meticulous he was. In summary, I can't recommend him highly enough. He listens, does what he can to incorporate what you want - and if he can't, he'll tell you why, he will never give you an inflated hope and he does his best to manage expectations but most importantly gives very good advice and hugs when needed. In the nicest possible way, I hope I never have to use Mr Harvey's skills again but if I do, I most definitely would never see another surgeon.

Mr James Harvey

Mr Harvey made me feel confident, well informed and I felt he was very well practiced and my health was important. Mr Harvey gave me all the latest research to read and discussed my options with me, he was honest and kind att all times and I trusted him he completed surgery on my breasts which I felt happy and comfortable with. I felt I was given excellent care and I would totally go to him in the future if I had any further problems. I genuinely feel mr Harvey Saved my life and I think he cared about my feelings and he wanted the best for me.
