Mr. Janos Z. Balega is a highly skilled Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Trained in both Hungary and the United Kingdom, he further developed his expertise through a fellowship in Indianapolis, USA. His subspecialty training in Gynaecological Oncology was completed at prestigious institutions including St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. 

Mr. Balega's practice covers many aspects of General Gynaecology, with a particular focus on cancer surgery. He has developed special interests in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, as well as radical surgery for primary and recurrent gynaecological cancers.

As a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at the City Hospital, Mr. Balega holds certification in Colposcopy and serves as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Birmingham University. 

Mr. Balega's expertise extends to the management of various gynaecological issues, including ovarian cysts, period problems, postmenopausal bleeding, HPV infection, and abnormal smears. He is highly regarded for his skills in laparoscopic surgery and is particularly renowned for his proficiency in managing patients with benign ovarian cysts, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer.

As the lead surgeon of the Gynaecological Cancer Centre in Birmingham and founder of the Women's Cancer Clinic, Mr. Balega is at the forefront of advancing cancer care for women. He is an expert in minimal invasive (laparoscopic) surgery for ovarian cysts and other gynaecological conditions. His surgical repertoire includes laparoscopic day case hysterectomies, laparoscopic radical hysterectomies for cervical cancer, and fertility-sparing surgery for cervical cancer, among others.

Additionally, Mr. Balega serves as the risk lead for the Pan-Birmingham Gynaecological Cancer Centre, overseeing patient care to ensure safety and efficiency. He actively contributes to the field through his role on the Clinical Advisory Panel of 'Target Ovarian Cancer' and as a regular reviewer for the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
