Mr Laurence Whitefield is a renowned and respected Consultant Ophthalmologist with BMI Healthcare and the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust. He helps those suffering from age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment. The skilled surgeon has a particular interest in cataract surgery and during his training he was exposed to the modern phacoemulsification techniques when they were introduced to the UK. He is an active member of Alcon's Refractive Cataract Surgery committee and is committed to optimising experiences and outcomes for patients.

He began his career at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School where he was awarded his Medical Degree in 1989. He completed his rotational training scheme and was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1993. He is heavily involved in medical education and runs advanced cataract surgery courses for fellow practitioners.

In his spare time, Mr Whitefeild enjoys staying active by cycling.
