Mr Mike Rigby is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon and at Circle Bath Hospital. He qualified from The Royal Free Hospital of Medicine and completed his basic surgical training at University College Hospital in London. Mr Rigby undertook his specialist training in the Wessex region and did his fellowship in the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre in Exeter in the prestigious Hip unit. In 2003 Mr Rigby was appointed as consultant orthopaedic surgeon at The Great Western Hospital in Swindon and in 2016 he became Clinical Lead.
Mr Rigby specialises in hip pathology. He offers treatment for a range of hip conditions such as hip dislocation, bone spurs, joint pain, femoroacetabular impingement, labral tear in the hip, knee tendonitis. He performs primary and complex hip replacement surgery as well as replacement revision surgery, knee replacement. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery/arthroscopy.
Mr Rigby has a special interest in young adult hip conditions, prevention of the onset of arthritis, and sports injuries.
Mr Rigby is actively involved in teaching. He lectures in hip surgery nationally and internationally.
Mr Rigby is an active member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Hip Society.
