Mr Basu was kind and informative from the first consultation to the last post op appointment. The whole experience was made as good as it possibly could be and I am extremely grateful to him for all aspects of the treatment. In addition the scar is minimal and having now completed radiotherapy I'm starting to feel back to normal at last.

I was referred to Mr Basu having previously been a patient of Mr Patterson . My first double mastectomy was in 2003 and when it was discovered 10 years later I’d had a cleavage sparing mastectomy, I chose to have all excess breast tissue removed. I wasn’t given the option of also having the latissimus dorsi reconstruction reversed which I now know could have been performed at the same time. In the past 18 months I noticed an increase in my breast size and was referred to the NHS for an ultra sound and mammogram. The consultant I saw suggested I contact Spire as this is where the previous surgeries had been performed. My first meeting with Mr Basu was extremely emotional ,a mixture of fear, anger and frustration on my part. I wanted someone to listen and understand my fears of my cancer returning. I have the BRCA gene as does my Nieces and sister who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. When I was first diagnosed 20 years ago, my daughter was 4 and my son 6 months old . My request was abundantly clear - a full double mastectomy to improve my chances of survival . I appreciate it must be so difficult having to rectify another surgeons work but Mr Basu listened patiently to my complex history. He was calm and empathetic whilst at the same time being very clear and honest when managing my expectations. He discussed in great detail what the surgery would entail and prepared me for the physical changes post op. I have no regrets following the surgery and would like to commend Mr Basu for his utmost professional manner and how he handled my situation. A true gentleman!

I first met Dr Basu in august 2023 whilst in the midst of my chemo treatment for breast cancer. He is kind, supportive, courteous extremely knowledgeable and I knew in that first initial meeting, I wanted him to be the surgeon to save my life. My surgery was in October 2023 and Dr Basu really made me feel at ease whilst under his care. I was very nervous and scared of the unknown but Dr Basu kept me reassured at all times and his knowledge of breast surgery (especially for breast cancer) is highly commendable. Dr Basu has such a polite and calming manner so no matter how worried I felt he would always put my worrying thoughts at rest. He always had/s a valid and strong answer to any question I asked which always made me feel he knew his job inside and out. Professionalism at its highest level. My surgery was very successful and I was very pleased with the outcome. As a young woman going though breast cancer I wanted to make sure I felt feminine after going through such a huge surgery and Dr Basu made sure that my needs were met cosmetically whilst keeping to the job at hand- removing any cancer left. I was worried with how I would feel about my body after surgery but I am delighted to say I am so impressed with the end result and my confidence has been restored. I hope I am never in the position where I have to recommend a surgeon to a friend or family member because of breast cancer but if I was ever in that heartbreaking position to advise- I will always, always (without a shadow of a doubt) recommend Dr Basu. There are some people In life you will never forget and I can proudly say Dr Basu will be one of them. The most amazing surgeon who saved my life and kept a smile on my face. I can’t thank him enough for helping me and my family through the worst time. If he ever gets to read this I hope he knows what a superhero he is. I don’t think he will ever realise how life changing his work is and I wish him every success for his future. Thank you so much.

We met Mr Naren Basu on 23rd Jan, for my wife's breast cancer treatment, I was very impressed by his approach towards the treatment plan & the way he explained my wife the whole plan point by point. My wife & I was immediately confident that we have come to a good specialist breast cancer doctor. Right from the surgery day till after that he took very good care of my wife. I would definitely recommend him to other breast cancer patients to take his advice for their treatment & care. He also calmly answered all the queries we asked before & after the surgery.

Mr Basu I can’t speak highly enough about my experience with this consultant he’s extremely professional and very caring with a high level of empathy. When you are faced with a diagnosis of breast cancer, your world is ripped apart -throughout my treatment, I never felt rushed as he took the time to explain all the steps and procedures available to me, giving me total reassurance that he is indeed a total expert in his field. I will be eternally grateful for his surgical skills the wonderful care that I have received from start to finish from Mr Basu and his wider team. Thank you!

My GP had recommended that I seek a consultant’s view as to my condition and I have to say that I was very pleased with the professional manner in which you investigated the issue. Your polite but detailed questioning and very thorough examination, explaining your findings and opinions along the way, was very reassuring. To also have this confirmed by a scan at the same appointment was excellent. I am fully confident in your diagnosis, which has left me feeling so much better. Should the situation occur, I would have no hesitation in recommending you.

I feel incredibly privileged to be a patient of Mr Basu. From the first day we met he has guided my husband and I through my breast cancer diagnosis and surgery with patience, care, understanding and reassurance. He has taken the time to explain every step to us, answering my million questions and listening to every concern or worry that we have had. He provided us with all of the information we needed to make decisions and at no point were we ever made to feel rushed or unsure. He has a natural ability to make people feel at ease and always brings calm to what is inevitably a stressful situation. I underwent a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and the care I received pre, during and post surgery was incredible, even arranging video calls to limit my travel to and from the hospital after the operation. Mr Basu is a highly respected, gifted surgeon and we could not have wished for a more attentive consultant. We will forever be grateful for the support and care he has given us.
