About

Mr Pennington graduated with honours, in 2004 from the University of Leeds and subsequently completed all of his surgical training in Yorkshire. In 2013 he was appointed as the sole Fellow on the highly regarded Coventry Shoulder Fellowship with Steve Drew and Tom Lawrence. This gave him a unique experience of a high volume of operating in the whole spectrum of shoulder and elbow surgery.

He further enhanced his elbow experience by being awarded the British Elbow & Shoulder Society Mayo Elbow Fellowship in 2015; affording him the opportunity to visit and spend time working alongside Dr Shawn O’Driscoll at the Mayo clinic in 2016.

He was appointed as a Consultant Shoulder & Elbow Surgeon in 2015; his NHS practice is based in Huddersfield & Halifax and his private practice is in Leeds, Huddersfield and Elland.

He has a special interest in total shoulder arthroplasty and arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and reconstructive surgery. He has developed a particular interest in the management of complex primary and revision shoulder arthroplasty cases. He firmly believes in a patient centred approach, and to tailoring your care towards the goals and outcomes that matter most to you.

I managed to book the appointment with Dr Pennington within 1 week and following that the scan and xray within days, which was great. Dr Pennington provided me with a detailed explanation of the the likely prognosis which gave me some confidence it could be fixed permanently and relatively quickly.

I have been extremely happy with my whole experience of shoulder surgery, the run up, the surgery and follow ups were all done with great professionalism. I can honestly say I will have no hesitation in having my other shoulder operated on next and would highly recommend Neil to anyone needing this type of repair surgery.

I have had a very positive and successful experience. Mr Pennington reassured me at the initial consultation with his warm, friendly and professional manner. He outlined the procedure in detail, taking the time to ensure I understood fully what was to come and the importance of committing to the physio afterwards. The operation was planned efficiently. The care of his team was excellent and the after care and follow up appointments have been superb. I cannot thank Mr Pennington enough for getting me back on track and on the road to making a full recovery.

I have been a patient of Mr Pennington for 2 different shoulder complaints and I leave each session feeling confident that he is able to find the root cause of my complaints and fix them. His approach has been logical and always proposed the least invasive options initially with surgery being the last resort.

Thank you for the feedback!
