Mr Oliver Backhouse is a Consultant Opthalmic Surgeon at Optegra Eye Hospital, Yorkshire with special interests in neuro-opthalmology, uveitis, cataract and refractive surgery. He is actively involved in MOSS (Madagascan Organisation for Saving Sight), a charity he founded in 1993. He is also a member of the ‘Yorkshire World Blindness 2020 Group’, which helps ‘eye programmes’ in developing countries.
Mr Backhouse is a member of the UK and European Refractive Surgery Society as well as the International Uveitis Society. He has published 30 academic papers and given numerous oral and poster presentations. He is also qualified to use LENSAR™ femtosecond laser technology for cataract and Clarivu (RLE) procedures.
