Mr Olivier Ghez is Consultant Paediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgeon based at the Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He is chair of the children's heart services and he specialises in heart malformation surgery.
Mr Ghez graduated in medicine from the Université de la Méditerranée, Marseille in 2004. He went on to train in Paris and Great Ormond Street, London and he was awarded the renowned Medaille d'Or. Further to this, he undertook research studies in circulatory assistance and development of the heart at Harvard Medical School, USA and in Marseille. Prior to his current post, Mr Ghez was based at La Timone Children's Hospital in Marseille. He joined the Royal Brompton in 2009. He has an outstanding worldwide reputation for his excellence in cardiac surgery and he also operates at the Harley Street Clinic, the Centre Cardiothoracique de Monaco and for the charity Chain of Hope.
Outside his clinical practice, Mr Ghez has extensively published in peer-reviewed journals and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London. Mr Ghez has won a number of awards including the ITV's GMB Health Star Award in 2017 and the Sun Newspaper's Special Recognition Health Star Award in 2017.
