I visited Mr Otto Von Arx after several visits to my GP who had not diagnosed a severe problem with my lower back which was impacting all of my movement. Mr Otto Von Arx quickly diagnosed this and organised for this to be speedily confirmed by MRI. This led to the correct treatment and I have not suffered any back pain since my treatment and medication ended over 5 months ago (July 2018). Not only is Mr Von Arx a deeply professional and able specialist he is also a very caring and empathetic man. This I witnessed not just for my own testimony, but before I had even met him I saw him help am elderly lady from his office to the lift to ward with no rushing or pressure.

I received excellent treatment from Mr Von Arx, the operation completely relieving my leg pains and numbness. The operation procedures were explained clearly, as were the associated risks, I would recommend patients to Mr Von Arx although, clearly, I hope I never have the need to use his services in the future! A good experience. PRH

Mr Von Arx is a very articulate man and has a lovely bedside manner. I visited him with pins and needles in the groin area for which he has investigated my symptoms extensively. He organised for me to have 5 MRI scans within a week of seeing him and also referred me to a Neurologist for further investigations within a week. He kept me informed about what he was doing every step of the way and I know that he has helped a lot of patients with very complex problems. I would not hesitate to recommend him to friends, family and work colleagues.

Dear Otto, I hope you're well. I thought I'd email to say another huge thanks for your help - I can't believe my surgery was a year ago today! I'm currently in the middle of 5 months travelling, having spent a month trekking in Nepal and then a month in Spain completing 800km of the Camino de Santiago, and on Monday I fly to Colombia to start a few months in South America. The best thing about all of this travelling is that my back is feeling better than ever and I've had no problems whatsoever! I hope all is well with you in Bath, and I'm sure you're keeping busy! Thank you again

I hurt my back 40 years ago. Gradually over the years my mobility decreased until I had to use a walking stick and mobility scooter. Initially the GP said I would have to learn to live with it. Ten years ago I saw a specialist who said he could do nothing for me. Then I was referred to Mr Von Arx. My first impression of him was his professionalism, confidence, obvious knowledge and his ability to explain fully and clearly what can be achieved. After an MRI scan he told me he could operate and what the results would be. He operated on me in the middle of the day and afterwards although a bit stiff I had less pain, but could walk the following day. I left hospital about 26 hours after arriving. Mr Von Arx warned me to be careful. Over the next three months I increased my walking distance and can now walk considerably further than in the last 5 years. I am not 100% pain free, but on Mr Von Arx's suggestion I have started Pilates classes and am confident they will lead to further improvement. I owe Mr Von Arx a lot as he has improved not only my quality of life but for my wife as well. Thank you Mr Von Arx.

An EXCELLENT job on the bottom of my spine. I am a small man and because of my size a very difficult operation with only a 60/40 chance of success. Many many thanks for pain free walking.
