Mr Gikas was very friendly and highly approachable. He showed genuine interest in exploring my treatment further and making sure we would get to the bottom of the problem.

I would highly recommend Mr Gikas. I had a painful knee and saw him for an assessment, he explained all the options following a scan and recommended an arthoscopy. The opoeration was successful and I have no pain and full movement. He was professional and delightful and explained evertything very clearly to me. Hia PA was so helpful and the process was well managed.

I went to see Mr Gikas because I had been told about his capability to undertake an hip replacement using the anterior or minimally invasive method. I had witnessed first hand how difficult the recovery can be from the standard type of hip replacement (The posterior approach to total hip replacement) when my mother had the surgery. Her recovery took months, she needed special equipment at home and many physiotherapy sessions before she could manage to live independently again. Mr Gikas explained to me how a total hip replacement would work with the anterior approach which uses an incision at the front of the hip. He was very clear that I would be able to walk without any aids almost immediately, and that full recovery would take somewhere between 4-6 weeks. Mr Gikas performed the surgery on my hip a couple of weeks later and I was astonished/delighted at the outcome. I was walking the next day without any aids, albeit slowly but over the following 4 weeks with the help of a few sessions of physio I was back to normal and no pain. No special equipment needed, no weeks of going to physio and after the initial pain of the surgery I was pain free. After months of painful walking it was like a miracle. A very talented, kind and thoughtful man, someone I would recommend without hesitation if you need a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

I first saw Mr Gikas at the beginning of January 2020 as I had constant pain in my right knee that after seeing several other consultants no one could find the problem. Sent from my iPhone Mr Gikas was very professional and absolutely charming and immediately diagnosed from a previous scan that the pain was coming from my hip not my knee. I was totally shocked that four previous consultants seemed un able to find this. I had a hip replacement on 29th January at Stanmore Orthopaedic hospital. He was kind and attentive and listened to everything I had to say which I believe is very important. The operation was a complete success and I am now pain free and cannot thank Mr Gikas enough for patience, understanding and expertise. I would not hesitate in recommending Mr Gikas and would 100% see him again if I have any further problems.
