About

Mr Panos Thomas is an experienced Sports & Knee orthopaedic surgeon. Over many years he has acquired a reputation as a surgeon trusted by elite sports teams and athletes, from Premier League football teams to the British Ski Federation.

Following completion of the orthopaedic training programme in Nottingham, Leeds & Derby, Mr Thomas has held a position as a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics at the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust since 1996. 

Up until 2010 he was the director and developer to the MCs in Sports and Exercise Medicine at UCL. He is currently the director of Management of Sports Injuries and Cadaveric Course of Arthroscopic Sports Knee Surgery and the current President of the British Orthopaedic Sports Trauma Associations and also the national tutor in Sports Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons, London. During the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games he was an elected Orthopaedic Specialist for competitors.

Alongside this he is widely published in the field of sports injuries and surgery and sits as an Editor of the Sports Orthopaedic Section for the Electronic NHS National Library. He has also authored books on the field.

He works privately at several established units across North London. His main area of interest being knee surgery (from joint replacement surgery to knee ligament surgery including ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction and complex multi-ligamentous injuries).
