Mr Peter Thompson is consultant urological surgeon at Kings College Hospital, London. He received his medical training at Kings College Hospital and other renowned hospitals in London and the South East. Mr Thompson spent a little over 18 months in South Africa before returning to Kings College and the Institute of Urology to complete his urological training.
Mr Thompson has developed a wide range of clinical interests across all aspects of core urology and has particular specialised experience in benign and malignant disease of the prostate, bladder and testes as well as in the treatment of urinary tract infections. He furthermore has considerable experience in managing prostate cancer and benign prostatic disease with green light laser treatment.
Throughout his career, Mr Thompson has looked to advance his field through a passionate commitment to teaching and training. He was formerly the President of the Urology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and was a tutor, programmed director and regional advisor to the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Mr Thompson is often invited to lecture at prestigious institures of learning including at the Royal Society of Medicine, the University of Beijing and the Sri Lankan College of Surgeons. Mr Thompson is also a founding member and teacher of open urological surgical techniques at the Royal College of Surgeons.
To add to his array of medical achievements, Mr Thompson was appointed Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeon of England in 2016.
