Mr Pieter le Roux is a consultant urologist specialising in laparoscopic, open and robotic renal surgery.
Mr le Roux studied medicine at Stellenbosch University in South Africa and completed his basic surgical training in the UK. he trained in Urology at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town and was appointed consultant urologist and senior lecturer to Tygerberg Hospital and Stellenbosch University Medical School in 2000. His training in laparoscopic urology included attachments in Cleveland and Basingstoke. He was appointed as consultant urological surgeon at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust in 2002 and joined St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2008. He set up the laparoscopic urology unit at Epsom and St Helier where he continues to perform a large number of renal laparoscopy cases each year.
In 2002, he was awarded the Storz prize, a travelling fellowship awarded once every two years by the South African Urological Association to the outstanding young urologist in South Africa.
