Mr. Rahul Lunawat is a highly qualified consultant urological surgeon whose NHS practice is based out of The Princess Royal University Hospital as part of King's College Hospital.
His special interest lies in kidney stones, but he also performs an extensive range of procedures for general urology patients too.
He originally qualified in medicine in India in 2001 before coming to the UK in 2002, where he worked at several different hospitals. After completing his basic surgical training and MD (clinical research) at University College London, he secured a specialist training position in Leeds in 2010. He went on to complete his FRCS (Urol) in 2014 and then had sub-specialist fellowship training focused on stone and upper tract disease at Nottingham in 2015.
Mr Lunawat has been involved with presenting at national meetings as well as being published numerous times in peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, he worked as a tutor at UCL Medical School.

From the initial consultation, examination etc...Rahul was thorough and exacting, friendly and efficient, able to demonstrate his professional knowledge and understanding for the benefit of the patient. I felt comfortable and confident with the proposed procedure. Rahuls explanation of likely and posssible outcomes was detailed but readily understandable. The hospital/surgical experience demonstrated that my confidence was well placed. Given the age and large size of the cyst I am pleased to report that I was in and out of the hospital within 4 hours. My recover is now complete and I experienced minimal discomfort not requiring any pain relief.

He provided a level of reassurance given the nature of the surgery and fully explained the pros and cons. His manner was ‘laid back’ which I found to further reassure what was to be done. I am so pleased with the approach and outcome that I would have no issue in recommending him.
