I feel I was very fortunate to be referred to Mr Rajesh Nair, his style is no nonsense and to the point. I was given advice that was entirely appropriate to my circumstances. I felt very supported throughout the whole process. I would also like to give a shout out to the anaesthetist Dr. Jamie McCanny, who was excellent in explaining exactly what I should expect, when I was having my general anaesthetic. Thank you all on Mr. Nair’s team.

Mr. Nair explained what, in his view was the best way forward... arranging for blood and urine tests to be carried out on the day as my consultation... a CT scan was also planned... date to follow. Mr. Nair was empathetic to my concerns about the cystoscopy planned for the 9th February...

Rajesh Nair is the epitome of what a medical professional should be. Top of his game, articulate, compassionate, considerate, gracious. I was fearful and afraid at the outset given the enormity of my medical issue (in my mind anyway!), but the understanding, sympathy and reassurance that Mr Nair demonstrated, quelled that angst at my very first consultation. Never did I feel that I was imposing or a fraud. I knew that I was in superb hands and that he would fix me - that's just what he did.

At the prostate centre it was fine. The problems came with the results being relayed by Mr Nair. I had to request the letters from him and one was dated over a month before. Despite the fact that he was aware I was having difficulty getting my GP to send me to a urologist for to check on my bladder diverticulum the diverticulum wasn’t mentioned in his letter. Moreover, he has my diagnosis completely wrong. If I had been sent the first letter in a timely fashion it could have been corrected before he sent the second letter. I asked by email politely if my diverticulum had been measured during the scan -pointing out this was extremely disappointing if it hadn’t been. Received no reply. He failed to keep a telephone appointment yesterday. I spoke to his secretary and mentioned that I had spoken to a urologist requesting a copy of the radiologist report of the scan- he said normally the consultant would send that to the patient as a matter of course. Skipping a bit now- but the latest is – I sent an email request to the records department from the email account I use with HCA/ Prostate Centre and it bounced. Sent a second request to them from a different account and it got through. Speaking to a solicitor tomorrow.
