Dr Rajiv Sanger trained as a medical graduate at University of Delhi in 1994. He then went on to complete his postgraduate degree in orthopaedic surgery at University of Delhi in 1988. In 1988 Dr Sanger then came to the UK and underwent further training in general surgery and orthopaedic surgery from 1988 until 2000, culminating in obtaining further postgraduate qualifications (FRCS Ed, MCh.(Orth ) Liverpool University and FRCS Trauma and Orthopaedics) from Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.During this time he completed specialty fellowships in arthroplasty surgery and sports medicine at reputed centres of Orthopaedic and Arthritic hospitals in Toronto and Wrightington Hospital in the UK.
After completing his training he was awarded a 'completion of orthopaedic training' certificate (CCT ) in 2000 and in 2001 was appointed as a substantive consultant in the NHS.
On average Dr Rajiv Sanger carries out in excess 250 total hip and total knee replacements per year, including revision hip and knee replacements. On average he performs over 100 knee arthroscopies per annum in his NHS and private practice. Dr Rajiv Sanger is the lead for the National Hip Fracture Database, Advancing Quality and the National Joint Register. He is also lead for Trauma at Warrington Hospital Trust. He is a keen educator to fourth and fifth year medical students as well as F1 and F2 doctors (junior doctors) and specialist registrars in orthopaedics. Dr Rajiv Sanger also regularly delivers training workshops to local GP's and health education seminars for the general public. He is also Examiner for the FRCS Orth Exam and is on faculty of FRCS Orth Training Courses.
