Mr Richard Carrington, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, currently works within the well-respected Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and has done since 2003 when he was appointed as a consultant. He has a wealth of experience in performing knee and hip surgery and specialises in joint replacement including robotically assisted knee replacement and revision knee surgery.
Mr Carrington qualified from his foundation training at St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1989, before going on to do specialist orthopaedic training in the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital training program. He further developed his skills abroad by completing orthopaedic training at Harvard University, during a senior joint replacement fellowship.
Mr Carrington is an active member of the research community, publishing regularly in numerous peer-review journals. He is also a member of the prestigious Revision Knee Working Group, which was established to improve patient outcomes following revision knee surgery in the UK. He is seen as an expert within his field and is regularly invited to speak on his areas of expertise both at orthopaedic meetings around the globe. Additionally, the Daily Mail recognised him as one of the top knee replacement surgeons in the country in The Good Doctors Guide.

Mr Carrington explained everything and I felt very reassured

Mt Carrington explained clearly what would be involved with my treatment from the outset. He visited me regularly after the procedure to check that all was okay. I would happily recommend him to anyone needing a hip or knee replacement.

I first met Mr Carrington nearly 20 years ago when I had an arthroscopy on my knee. He and his team operated on my other knee a few years later. So here I am at the point where I think I may be needing a knee replacement. There is no one else I would want to carry out that operation. As ever, I found Mr Carrington very personable and have the utmost trust and respect for him. I left the consultation with a sense of relief, knowing that he would be carrying out the operation.

I knew of Mr Carrington from past experience with relatives who have been treated by him, so this is how I choose to see him. He was very attentive, listened to my explanation of what was wrong, and examined the joints that needed attention thoroughly. Mr Carrington was very thorough, seemed to be very knowledgeable about my knee problems, and very understanding and helpful.
