Mr Richard Hindley is a consultant urologist focused on patient care. He is dedicated to providing all patients with expert advice and the very highest quality of clinical care. Mr Hindley is able to treat the whole range of urological conditions using the latest proven techniques and the most up-to-date technology to provide timely and low-risk care.
He practices privately at Nuada Urology, London, alongside some of the leading consultants in the field and additionally at BMI The Hampshire Clinic, Spire Clare Park Hospital, Surrey and The Candover Clinic, Basingstoke. He also has clinics to see NHS patients at UCL and Basingstoke Hospitals. He receives patient referrals from all over the south of England.
Mr Hindley has made some impressive contributions to research into prostate cancer, and run some clinical trials designed to further improve treatments and advances in patient care. He is dedicated to improving the diagnostic pathway for patients with prostate cancer and he furthermore researches some of the mechanisms that may cause the disease. Not only this, he has furthermore performed over 500 transperineal prostate biopsies. Richard was heavily involved in the PROMIS trials which have shown considerable evidence of the benefits of having mpMRI scanning for diagnosing prostate cancer and allowing a far more accurate pathway for patients with prostate cancer.
He is also the director of the Greenlight Prostate Cancer Vaporisation training, a surgical technique which led to the NHS excellence committee awarding them for innovation. This technique is better for the patient, in terms of reduced healing time and even in high risk patients, the procedure can be carried out safely and effectively.
Most recently, Richard was the first surgeon to use the new Rezum treatment for BPH in 2017. This radical new treatment is a minimally invasive procedure which uses steam therapy to reduce the enlarged prostate. For more information visit www.rezum.co.uk.
