He completed his Dental degree in Dundee, Scotland followed by dental vocational training in the North of Scotland, several junior hospital posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Aberdeen, Airdrie (near Glasgow), Scotland, along with sessions in Oral Medicine at Glasgow Dental Hospital. Mr Richard M. Graham then completed his medical degree in Aberdeen, Scotland, followed by House Officer posts and then 2 years of basic surgical training. He moved on to Higher Surgical Training in the North West region completed between 2004 - 2010.

During that time he completed several fellowships; India (Cleft), USA (Craniofacial), Holland (Orthognathic & Facial Deformity), Germany (Trauma & Implants).

Mr Richard M. Graham currently works in a Specialist Multi-Disciplinary Team arrangement for Maxillofacial Trauma and Orthognathic/Facial Deformity cases, alongside several different specialties. He provides services generally across the breadth of the specialty, including Oral Medicine. He has a specific interest in Oral and Maxillofacial Trauma and Orthognathic (facial deformity) surgery.

Mr Richard M. Graham also sees patients with facial pain and TMJ disorders, as well as patients with general Oral and Maxillofacial conditions e.g Dentoalveolar Surgery for Impacted Teeth/Wisdom Teeth, Biopsies of Oral Soft Tissue Lesions.

He has a specific interest in Medical Education; in its provision, delivery, and organization and was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education in 2014. Mr Richard M. Graham has been an Honorary Lecturer and Clinical Teacher at the University of Manchester and is now a member of The Faculty of Surgical Trainers plus a member of the Dental Training Faculty, both at the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh.

He has broad experience in examining at the following levels; BDS, MFDS, MBChB, FDS (Oral Surgery), MRCS, FRCS (Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery).

In terms of positions of responsibility, he is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor, has been Regional Specialty Advisor for Oral Surgery in the North West for the Royal College of Surgeons, and is one of the Regional Surgical Advisors for the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Mr Richard M. Graham was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Education in 2016 and awarded Educator of the year by Pennine Acute Hospitals in 2017 and 2019.
