Mr Robert Lovell is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in non-operative management of back pain. He completed his undergraduate training at University College London Medical School and went on to train in London and Stanmore. Mr Lovell specialised in spinal surgery after his higher surgical training in trauma and orthopaedics in East Anglia. Mr Lovell later undertook a prestigious spinal fellowship in Brisbane, Australia and upon returning to England was given a consultant post at The Ipswich Hospital in 2010. Mr Lovell operates on all types of spinal conditions including trauma, infection, deformity, malignancy, sciatica, and degenerative conditions. He has a sub-speciality in cervical surgery and cervical disc replacement. In addition to his practice at Gilmour Piper, The Nuffield Health Ipswich Hospital and The Ipswich Hospital, Mr Lovell provides medico-legal and clinical negligence advice. Mr Lovell has an interest in medical education, and he teaches trainee surgeons by performing national and international lectures. In his leisure time, Mr Lovell enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, and he is also a keen musician.
