He has extensive experience in aesthetic & plastic surgery, with special interest in facial reanimation/restoration as well as super microsurgery; a technique which allows for the fine-tuned repair of structures e.g. nerves of up to 0.1 mm, thereby allowing for excellent results.

Mr. Kannan graduated from The Christian Medical College, Vellore in 1999 and undertook his basic surgical training under the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He then went on to complete a PhD in Nanotechnology at the University College London; contributing greatly to research which led to the world's first synthetic organ transplant. Mr Kannan was then selected for the UK higher surgical training programme at the South Yorkshire Deanery, followed by advanced fellowships in facial surgery/microsurgery (St Andrew's Centre, Chelmsford), aesthetic surgery (National TIG fellowship, Leicester) and breast reconstruction (Birmingham). He obtained the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and thereby, joined the Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery in 2012. His NHS consultant career, started shortly after. Since then, he has completed an additional diploma in ENT head & neck surgery in addition to honing his skill set  further, with very specialised training in Japan (Super-microsurgery) and the US (Migraine Surgery).

As well as being an excellent clinician, Mr. Kannan has a keen interest in research (with over a hundred publications & presentations) and is a peer-reviewer for the BAPRAS-accredited Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery (JPRAS). He also helps run national and international fellowships in facial restorative surgery, with visitors from all over the world. Currently, he heads QVH's Facial Palsy Unit and is a founder-member of the UK Cranial Nerve Network; the world's first network of cranial nerve specialists. Bedside Manner

Bedside Manner
After having a worrying wait on the NHS, we decided to bring our 88 year old mother to see Mr Kannan at the McIndoe clinic. What a difference! Actually getting an initial consultation on the day we rang up and then the removal of a large skin cancer from her arm with skin flap within 2 weeks, was amazing. Mr Kannan, his secretary and all the staff at the clinic were kind and caring to us and our mother. She now has another skin cancer being treated on the NHS, referred by Mr Kannan, but we would have no hesitation in getting this treated at the McIndoe if necessary. It's true, you get what you pay for!! Follow-up appointments were excellent too.

I found Mr. Kannan to be very caring and understanding and someone who takes great pride in his work. Mr. Kannan and all the nursing professionals combined to provide the kind of first class experience everyone would wish for in what for me was a very worrying time. Thank you for all the kindness shown.
