Mr Salman Mirza is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre and specialises in cataract surgery, diabetic eye disease and retinal complications. He leads a team of fellows, specialty doctors, trainees and specialist nurses in evaluating & treating complex medical retina problems.
Mr Mirza has a wealth of experience in diagnosing and treating age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions and other inflammatory conditions. He is experienced in Phacoemulsification cataract surgery and routinely deals with complex cases.
Mr Mirza takes an active part in the teaching of medical students, junior doctors, optometrists and GP colleagues. He also regularly organises regional postgraduate teaching in medical retinal disease including grand rounds and symposiums.
Mr Mirza has broad research interests and has been involved in several research trials for Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy.
