Mr Shah Punwar is a Consultant Knee & Hip Surgeon based at University Hospital Lewisham in London. His private practice is at the BMI Blackheath Hospital.
Following his graduation from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2001 he went on to undertake his basic surgical training in Kent and the London region before completing his specialist orthopaedic training on the Bristol rotation.
Mr Punwar undertook a year of complex arthroplasty and sport injury training in Perth, Western Australia before returning to the UK and being appointed as a Consultant Trauma Orthopaedic Surgeon.
Mr Punwar has been listed on the General Medical Council's specialist register since July 2014. He is also a GMC recognised educational trainer responsible for instructing the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
Mr Punwar's main areas of expertise are Knee and Hip replacement surgery as well as knee ligament injuries. He has a particular interest in partial knee replacements and ACL reconstruction. He is a member of the British Association of Knee Surgery and keeps up to date with all the latest treatments.
Having gained a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine he maintains an interest in lower limb sports related injuries as well as all aspects of general orthopaedic trauma.
