Mr Simon Boyle is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in disorders of the shoulder and elbow, as well as sports injuries. Simon received his medical degree in 1997 and went on to train in Yorkshire and Australia. Simon undertook international fellowships in shoulder and elbow surgery in Annecy, France and Wrightington. In 2009, Simon carried out the complex arthroscopic Latarjet shoulder stabilisation procedure - making him the first surgeon in the UK to do so.
Simon has expertise in the management of shoulder pain, rotator cuff tears, shoulder dislocations, frozen shoulders, AC joint injuries and shoulder arthritis as well as disorders of the elbow including tennis/golfers elbow, stiffness and ulnar nerve compression. He has a strong belief in tailoring treatment to an individual's needs and circumstances and in many cases problems can be managed without the need for surgery.
Simon is himself a keen sportsman and has played both rugby union and league for over 20 years. He now enjoys running, cycling and triathlons and recently completed an Ironman and the New York marathon.
Simon currently has private practices based in York and Leeds, with his main NHS practice in York.

Simon was outstanding from the moment I was referred to him. His understanding, explanation and treatment of my injury surgically were all excellent and I had complete faith in him and my treatment. The results and process have been excellent and I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Mr Boyle has a cheerful manner. Is understanding of concerns and explains with diagrams and models exactly what is wrong and how he is going to fix it.

I cannot recommend Mr Boyle highly enough. Five years ago he replaced my right shoulder. The before and after care was and has been excellent. I am now waiting for the left shoulder to be sorted. He is a life saver. Thoughtful, kind and professional.

My experience with Mr Simon Boyle has been exceptional all round. I have had a number of treatment before with a number of different surgeons that have all been very good but Mr Boyle has been extraordinarily good at; - His bed side manner pre and post opp explaining in depth the procedure and recovery. I personally found this very helpful as I have an interest in the biology of the operation and recovery. - His availability to be contacted regards any concerns was exemplary. - I also really liked the way that Mr Boyle worked very closely with my Physio Therapist through out my recovery.
