Mr Somnath Banerjee is a consultant ophthalmologist. He attended UCL in 1992 from where he received his Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine. In 1997 he received his FCRS Ed and became a fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He currently works at Spire Leicester Hospital where he carries out cataract removal surgery, age-related muscular degeneration treatment, and laser eye treatment. He is a member of societies, such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists UK, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, the British Medical Association. His main area of interests include Retinal Diseases; he has had training in the management of the retinal diseases, including retinal detachment and macular hole.

However, despite his evident mastery within the medical field, Mr Banerjee is a keen traveller and sportsman who represented his Medical school in football and cricket, he continues to play club cricket in Leicestershire.
