Mr Srinivasan Subramaniam is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Optegra Eye Hospital and has a special interest in complex cataract surgery and laser eye surgery. He has trained extensively in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery including the use of laser treatments. He is among a few surgeons in the UK, and the only surgeon in the East Midlands, who routinely performs laser cataract surgery. Mr Subramaniam has always been an early adopter of innovative technologies in his practice and uses various novel lenses such as multifocal lenses, trifocal lenses and accommodative lenses to treat cataract and refractive surgical disorders.
Mr Subramaniam is an extremely talented doctor and has passed the assessment of Competence in Laser Refractive Surgery conducted by The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (Mr Subramaniam is now an assessor for this exam).
Mr Subramaniam routinely performs LASIK and LASEK procedures and trains junior doctors in ophthalmology. He has also been a member of the Microsurgical Training Faculty of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists for over 10 years. Furthermore, Mr Subramaniam has published academic papers in several peer review journals.
In recognition of his work, Mr Subramanium has been appointed Honorary Visiting Senior Lecturer in the School of Life & Health Sciences at Aston University.
