Mr Stephen Brennan is a consultant general surgeon practising at Croydon University Hospital NHS Trust and St Georges Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He has private practices at Spire St Anthony's Hospital, BMI Shirley Oaks Hospital, and BMI The Blackheath Hospital. He has specialist interests in Upper GI, Keyhole and Hernia surgery. His areas of particular expertise include gallbladder surgery and laparoscopic (keyhole) repair of hernia. He performs upper GI gastroscopy, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. He has personally performed more than 2,000 laparoscopic procedures including cholecystectomy, fundoplication, and repair of hernia. Further conditions with which Mr Brennan can help include abdominal pain, haemorrhoids, anal fissure and lipoma. Mr Brennan is originally from Dublin, and underwent specialist training in Scotland where he was lucky enough to be taught by some of the top experts in the field. He went on to train at the MATTU centre in Guildford, an internationally recognised centre for upper GI and keyhole surgery. He also undertook fellowships in Australia and South Africa. He has also been on hernia surgery missions to under-resourced parts of Africa. Away from the clinic, Mr Brennan enjoys training for his private pilot's licence, learning French, and spending time with his family and new baby daughter.
