Mr. Steve Hornby Is an Upper GI Surgeon and Clinical Lead for Upper GI Surgery at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
He qualified from Nottingham Medical School. After a Trauma elective in Houston Texas, he completed his basic surgical training in Lincoln and worked as a Simulation Fellow in Nottingham. He completed his higher surgical training in the Southwest of England. He undertook an Upper GI Fellowship at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, Australia and an Upper GI observership at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong.
Mr. Hornby is a keen surgical educator, having designed and convened several courses in technical and non-technical surgical skills. He has served as both President and Director of Education of the Association of Surgeons in Training and in 2013 he was awarded Membership of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr. Hornby's primary clinical interests include Oesophago-gastric cancer, Robotic Surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, benign upper GI conditions including the management of gallstone disease, hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction.
Mr Hornby is married to a multi-talented physiotherapist and writer and has 2 young and energetic boys. In his spare time away from his busy practice he enjoys walking, learning to cook, woodworking and is a proud white belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.

Mr Steve Hornby is quite simply the best of the best. His knowledge is second to none. His empathy and understanding is genuine! He will listen to you without judgement and explain to you your options. And lastly but not least.. Mr Hornby is such a nice and approachable man that will help you. I feel better than i have done in years and that is all thanks to him!
