Mr Theo Empeslidis is a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Medical Retina at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University Hospitals of Leicester. He has trained in Greece and the UK and has completed a fellowship in Medical Retina with additional training in uveitis. Mr Empeslidis' special clinical and research interests include retina conditions such as age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, diabetic retinopathy, inherited macular dystrophies, uveitis. He leads several randomised controlled trials in retinal disorders and has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals.

As the leading consultant ophthalmologist of the Age-related macular degeneration Unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Mr Theo Empeslidis has received the prestigious Macular Society Award for Excellence for his exemplary patient care and team leadership.
