Mr Poole graduated in medicine in 1992 from St Mary's Hospital, London and completed his specialist training in ophthalmology mainly in London hospitals, including the Western Eye Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital. He undertook a year of training at the eye unit in Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, Tanzania. Additionally, he also completed a cataract, corneal and refractive surgery fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
Following his fellowship, he was appointed consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Frimley Park Hospital in 2003, where he is currently the unit's eye specialist in corneal and ocular surface disease. His special interests include modern corneal lamellar and full-thickness grafting and all types of modern cataract surgery and lens implantation.
Mr. Poole sees all ophthalmic conditions and he focuses mainly on the front of the eye. He performs cataract surgery including complex cases and toric/multifocal lenses and is also experienced in corneal surgery.
