Mr Victor Chong is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with a special interest in cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. He graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School to obtain his medical degree, having been awarded the Neil Arnott Prize. He went on to complete an MPhil at King's College London before being selected for two prestigious Fellowships at the internationally renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital and at the Centre of Macular Degeneration at the Universit of Iowa, USA. Dr Chong he was appointed co-director of opthalmic education at the University of Oxford, before his appointment as Head of Department at the Oxford Eye Hospital.
Mr Chong has published 3 books, 7 book chapters and over 60 papers, primarily in macular disease. He is an expert advisor to NICE on implantation systems for patients with macular degeneration. He is also invited to speak at all major international meetings and is a faculty member of the American Acadamy of Opthalmology and European School for Advanced Studies in Opthalmology.
