About

Mr Vik Veer is a Consultant ENT Surgeon currently practicing at the prestigious Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital in Central London.

Mr Vik Veer went to University College London Medical School and came first in Head & Neck Anatomy and Neuroanatomy exams. He went on to secure a place on the Barts & Royal London Surgical Training Rotation where he gained valuable experience in Brain Surgery, Heart & Lung surgery, Colorectal surgery, Breast Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Vascular Surgery and of course ENT.

The majority of his advanced ENT training took place in the Newcastle region, along with placements at the Evelina Paediatric Hospital at St Thomas’ Westminster London, and time with world-renowned surgeons in France, Italy and Australia. During his training, he won the prestigious National Ear Surgery competition (Royal Society of Medicine Temporal Bone Competition)

He has attended far more than the required number of educational courses required to be a competent surgeon and has aimed to achieve excellence in all of his techniques. Many of his supervisors stated that he was one of the most talented surgeons they had ever trained.

Mr Vik Veer's first appointment was as a temporary consultant at James Cook Hospital where he treated Head & Neck cancer. After this, he secured his permanent NHS consultant post at the Royal National Throat Nose & Ear Hospital, and Queens Hospital, BHR trust.

He is one of two Consultant Surgeons in the country who is fully funded by the NHS to provide surgery for patients with Sleep Disordered Breathing. He is developing new techniques and classifications for Snoring and Sleep Apnoea, and regularly speak at international conferences. Having won the prestigious National Ear Surgery Prize in 2014 (Royal Society of Medicine Temporal Bone Competition), I also have a specialist interest in Otology. In this area, he specifically focuses on treating tinnitus, vertigo and cholesteatoma.

Mr Vik Veer is a dedicated trainer of junior doctors and also the founder and director of a charity which provides educational ENT courses to doctors and nurses nationwide.

I visited Mr Veer at 9 Harley Street (you may need to check address as this website says 27 Harley Street) on the 18th July 2019. I was very anxious having been recently diagnosed with moderate sleep apnoea. I had sent my NHS sleep study to Mr. Veer in advance and he had obviously taken the time to study it and make better sense of the data within. He explained everything very carefully to me and my husband and put my mind at rest that I actually only had very slight sleep apnoea and that the numbers and possibly read incorrectly. He has made some suggestions for follow up test which should give a more accurate picture of my diagnosis. He was a very charming and sensitive practitioner to my dilema.

I had been advised by my trainer that I had some difficulty breathing through my nose and this was affecting my exercises. I had also been waking up feeling tired for some time. I therefore sought out Mr Veer based upon professional recommendations. Mr Veer conducted a sleep test and determined I had sleep apnea and also that I had a deviated septum and a previously unnoticed backed nose which was severely affecting my ability to breath through my nose. Mt Veer first performed a septoplasty and the results were very good and then several months later I underwent further surgery to address my snoring and sleep apnea. The surgery was significant but Mr Veer explained all the procedures to me and the results have been super. Mr Veer has an excellent bedside manner, is charming and makes his patients feel very comfortable and reassured. He is a superb surgeon and a considerate man.

After years of snoring, gradual weight gain & my husbands mild to severe annoyance about my snoring, I decided to do something about it. I downloaded a snoring app & recorded myself for a few nights of 'Epic snoring' (I had no idea I was so bad!). I was referred to Mr Vik Veer and did the at home sleep study from which Mr Veer diagnosed me with moderate to severe sleep apnea. I'm now looking forward to sorting out this health issue and hopefully feeling less tired. Mr Veer has a great bedside manner, explained everything clearly and went through my treatment options and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend him, 5*

I met Mr Vik Veer recently for a consultation about my unilateral tinnitus. Mr Veer listened to all my concerns (I presented with quite a lengthy list!) and he was able to reassure me at an early stage in our discussion that I ought not to be living in fear of the strange sounds that I am hearing. We did some straightforward tests to help further reassure and spoke about strategies for managing my symptoms. While I don't think there is a quick fix for my specific issue, I feel there is much I can do to change my own outlook and reduce my anxiety. After speaking with Mr Veer I feel motivated to try to see tinnitus in a different light and move away from the fearful thoughts that were starting to get in the way of living a normal life. Mr Veer also has a warm and engaging approach and, for me, those are important qualities which should not be underestimated. I only wish I had sought a consultation with him sooner.

Since my teenage years I had problems with my nose being always congested, symptoms of hay-fewer etc... Lately I have developed sleep apnea too... I have visited Mr Vik Veer and we have decided on a turbinate reduction and septoplasty procedure... If one cay say such thing about a surgical procedure - it was a great experience and I am only sorry I didn't do it sooner... Mr Veer has explained everything very clearly and I could feel a huge difference even couple hours after the intervention... I have never felt any pain or discomfort really and in my specific case from the minute I entered the surgery things got better. I would highly recommend Mr Veer for his openness, clear explanations and professionalism.
