Mr William Bartlett, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, is currently practising in North and Central London. He is highly specialised in surgical and non-operative management of hip and knee complaints.
Mr Bartlett finished his medical degree in 1994 at University College London where he was awarded numerous prizes including the Myerstein prize for best overall pre-clinical performance. He initially trained in surgery at University College Hospital and the St. Bartholomew's Hospital rotation, which inspired him to follow a career in orthopaedics. His subsequent specialist orthopaedic training occurred at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, and he also undertook research and a subspeciality fellowship. Further training on techniques of joint preservation and minimally invasive replacement surgery was undertaken abroad at units including the Presbyterian Hospital in Texas, the New Albany Hospital in Ohio and Chirurgish Orthopadische in Germany.
Mr Bartlett sees a wide range of differently aged patients from young adults to the elderly, he also sees numerous professional sportsmen & women. Indeed, he has gained a wide range of experience treating patients who have previously been refused surgery due to concerns relating to advanced age, obesity or complex medical conditions. In all groups, non-surgical treatment options will always be thoroughly explored initially, often through close work with expert physiotherapists, osteopaths, radiologists, sports physicians and rheumatologists.

I had a hip replacement procedure. Mr Bartlett answered all my questions patiently prior to and following the procedure. His kindness, professionalism, skill and reassurance meant a great deal at a time when I felt vulnerable and anxious.

I have been very pleased with all aspects of the professional care I have received. Pre and post operative meetings have been informative and reassuring; the surgery was successful, and care in hospital attentive.

I was experiencing severe arthritic pain in my left hip. My GP recommended the London Hip Unit, I saw Mr Bartlett in September and had a total hip replacement three weeks later. I cannot fault Mr Bartlett in any way. He is obviously a technical perfectionist. He is approachable and explains everything in simple terms but in great detail which is easy to do understand. Above all he listens and treats each patient as an individual. The London Hip Unit must surely be the Rolls Royce of the hip replacement world. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Bartlett without reservation.

My hip replacement surgery was performed with great skill, minimal scar which healed very quickly and no ensuing discomfort of any kind. Mr Bartlett has, in all our contacts, been extremely pleasant and informative. Excellent bedside manner and great care for his patients: he came to visit me at least twice in hospital postop despite it being a weekend! A talented and accomplished professional. Thank you.'

Excellent experience pre and post operation. He was recommend by a mutual friend and I am so happy I have decided to go with him. He is extremely professional and caring. Has spent enough time with me going through the process and the procedure. I would highly recommend him as well.
