Professor Caroline Moore is a Senior Clinical Researcher at University College London and Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon at University College Hospital. She specialises in the in the detection, surveillance and treatment of prostate cancer, using an MRI-led approach.
After completing her medical training within the London Deanery and University College London, she began her thesis work in 2002. She was awarded with her MD in 2007 for her research into 'Photodynamic therapy for Prostate Cancer'. She was the first woman in the UK to become a Professor of Urology and is Head of Urology at University College London. In 2012 she was made an honorary consultant urologist at University College Hospitals Trust and leads a team for prostate cancer diagnosis, active surveillance and focal therapy.
Professor Moore and her team are actively involved in research and clinical trials. They have won a number of prizes for their work, including the BMJ Research Paper of the Year in 2019. They have delivered the highest number of focal treatments for prostate cancer, with Professor Moore having personally treated 800 men using this approach and mentors urologists in this technique internationally. She has also lectured and led clinical trials on the use of MRI to screen for prostate cancer.
