Laura is highly trained as a traditional acupuncturist and sports massage therapist. She qualified in acupuncture with a BSc (Hons) degree from the renowned College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. Her practice integrates two styles of acupuncture – Five Element Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She has also gained a distinction in massage from the London School of Sports Massage. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage as such adheres to their standards of care and codes of conduct.
Daily stresses, emotional upsets, lifestyle choices and injury disturb our natural balance and lead to physical and emotional symptoms. Laura integrates principles drawn from western and Chinese medicine. By identifying the root cause of the symptoms, she uses a combination of acupuncture, massage, cupping, guasha and moxa, tailoring the treatment to her client’s needs to help return their body, mind and spirit to optimum health. Laura is particularly interested in musculoskeletal injuries, infertility and obstetrics, how femotional suffering can manifest physiologically and draws on yoga, qi gong and meditation principles to treat the body. She also believes strongly in the importance of nutrition for health and well-being, hence employs Chinese theory on the energetics of food. Treatment focuses on alleviating the main complaint but because it is an 'holistic' approach not only does the original complaint improve but patients also report sleeping better, needing less coffee, feeling more energised and having an overall improved sense of wellbeing. It is an excellent way of getting well and staying well.
