Raelene has been practising in the area of Hand Therapy for the last 16 years. She has extensive experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of both adults and children with with hand and wrist injuries following trauma, elective surgery and acquired conditions. This includes children with congenital conditions.
She qualified as an occupational therapist at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) in 1996, worked in in private practise in South Africa until 2000, after which she relocated to the UK.
She has worked at several London Teaching hospitals in the area of hand therapy and has been working over the past 12 years at Chelsea and Westminster where she a clinical specialist in this area.
Raelene has a special interest in the treatment of extensor tendon injuries and has had the privilege of teaching on this subject, both at national and international level. She is also undertaking research in this area and has designed and implemented a pilot study in order to develop a multi-centre randomised controlled trial to compare 'two different early action motion regimes in the treatment of zone 4-6 extensor tendon repairs'.
Raelene is dedicated to continuous professional development and is passionate in staying abreast of new developments and research in her specialist area of practice.
