Professor Kim is dual-qualified in Medicine (Edinburgh University) and Dentistry (Birmingham University). He trained in Edinburgh and Cambridge before completing his specialist ENT surgery training and an Advanced Fellowhsip in Head & Neck and Endocrine surgery at Toronto University Hospital. Here he gained experience in minimally invasive 'key-hole' surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid, for which he is now a specialist advisor for The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Professor Kim has a very strong interest in research. He was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and he completed a PhD in thyroid and head & neck cancers, for which he was awarded the prestigious 'Syme Medal' by the Royal College of Surgeons. He is now researching new immunotherapy in treating thyroid and head & neck cancers at the Institute of Cancer Research.
Professor Kim has a wide experience in treating all aspects of adult and paediatric ear, nose and throat disorders and is happy to see patients with the full range of ENT problems, including those with ear and hearing, nasal and sinus, voice and throat problems.
