Professor Damian Griffin is an orthopaedic surgeon who graduated from Cambridge and Oxford and trained in Oxford and the United States. Professor Griffin is the foundation professor at Warwick Medical School in 2002, where he established a new academic department of trauma and orthopaedic surgery.
Professor Griffin is a world-class expert in hip arthroscopy and hip preserving surgery. He is particularly interested in the treatment of hip conditions in young, active or athletic people. Professor Griffin substantially contributed to the development of numerous surgical techniques used nowadays, such as accurate reshaping for FAI syndrome, cartilage repair in the hip with matrices and stem cells, and lateral approaches to the posterior hip to treat sciatic nerve and hamstring injuries.
The results of clinical research projects led by Professor Griffin have been published in some of the most prestigious medical journals. He is the Director of Education for the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy and teaches and lectures around the world.
