Professor Richard Collin received his medical degree from Cambridge University. He undertook his postgraduate ophthalmology training in a number of London hospitals including the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital and was later awarded a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco to study oculoplastic surgery.
Professor Collin has a keen interest in teaching and was appointed Honorary Professor at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, University of London in 2008. In recognition of his dedication to his field, he received the Charamis Medal from the European Society of Ophthalmology for his contribution to teaching oculoplastic surgery in 2009. He has published over 300 papers and co-authored a number of textbooks on Oculoplastic surgical topics.
Professor Collin was a Consultant surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he started the eyelid tumour oncology and microphthalmia/anophthalmia services, he has now retired from the NHS. His private practices are located in Harley Street. During his career, Professor Collin has been president of both the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society and the European Society of Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
