Professor Robert Wilson is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and also serves as Director of Respiratory Medicine at Royal Brompton Hospital. His successful career has seen him become an expert in various respiratory issues, most notably pneumonia. Beyond this, his clinical interests are include bronchiectasis, primary ciliary dyskinesia, primary immunodeficiency and non-tuberculous mycobacteria infections.
As Director of Respiratory Medicine Professor Wilson has implemented huge changes to patient care, expanding the minimal dependency assessment unit, building a new bronchoscopy suite and improving and building the efficiency and capacity of the department.
He is also a Professor of practice in Respiratory medicine at Imperial College, London and has lectured for the British and European Thoracic societies, as well as others. He has enjoyed travelling for lecture tours to China, Mexico and South Africa amongst others.
Professor Wilson regularly contributes to peer-reviewed and academic journals. He has also written several book chapters for various publications. He currently sits on the editorial board for the Clinical Pulmonary Medicine journal and co-wrote the Pneumonia Pocketbook.
