Stephen Vernon is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon who qualified in 1978.
Professor Vernon trained in Oxford, Bristol and Baltimore (USA). Then in 1986, Professor Vernon was appointed as a Consultant in Ophthalmic Surgery at University Hospital, Nottingham. He was awarded a honoroary professorship at the University of Nottingham in 2008. He has over 170 peer review publications to jis name. In 1991 he described the Microtrabeculectomy, a minimally invasive version of the traditional operation. In 2020 he was awarded a Fellowship of the International Society of Glaucoma Surgeons in recognition of his inovative work in glaucoma surgery during his career.
