Mr Ronnie Davies is an experienced consultant orthopaedic surgeon who works at Manchester Foundation Trust. He specialises in shoulder & elbow surgery and strives to provide the best possible care for his patients.
He studied at Cambridge University medical school and, after a few years around the area as a junior doctor, moved back to Manchester where he completed his specialist training in trauma & orthopaedic surgery. He subsequently undertook higher fellowship training in shoulder & elbow surgery at the renowned Robert Jones Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, before commencing work as a consultant in Manchester.
Mr Davies is confident in his ability to treat many shoulder problems without surgery. He takes care to explain the cause of patients' issues and their treatment options in clear, understandable language. Mr Davies genuinely enjoys the variety of people he meets and gets a great deal of satisfaction from being able to help them.
Most of his NHS work is at Wythenshawe Hospital, where he treats all types of common injuries, including complex injuries around the shoulder and elbow. This is where he holds his outpatient clinics. He also performs surgery at Trafford Hospital's purpose-built Orthopaedic Centre.
Mr Davies treats a wide range of conditions, including rotator cuff tears, frozen shoulder and shoulder arthritis. He is particularly interested in using technology to improve the accuracy of surgery, including 3D printing and surgical navigation. He runs some innovative services, including a one-stop clinic for shoulder problems, which allows X-rays, scans, injections and other treatments all to be provided in a single visit.
His main passion outside clinical medicine is teaching and training. He is the Education Lead for the North West orthopaedic teaching programme, organising regular teaching for a group of 60 trainee surgeons.

Mr Davies saw me with less than 24 hours notice having arranged to squeeze me in after a couple of WhatsApp messages and a phone call. Within 60 minutes of arriving at his clinic he had examined me, carried out an ultrasound scan, sent me for an x-ray, read the results and given me an injection which completely resolved my pain which I had been suffering from for three weeks. All this was done with a clear explanation and a very warm and friendly manner. The whole experience was perfect with an excellent result. Thank you.
