Akbar is a Senior Psychological Therapist/ Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for a large NHS psychological therapies service in London. He has many years’ experience of working with depression and anxiety disorders alongside offering clinical supervision to both psychological wellbeing practitioners and high intensity therapist. Akbar has a special interest in webcam online therapy and has over 3 years' experience of delivering therapy using this innovative method and offers this approach as well as face to face sessions to his private clients.
After completing his core psychology degree, Akbar a post-graduate degree in Advanced Practice Interventions for Primary Care Mental Health from The University of Manchester in 2008. He also completed post-graduate training for High Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy programme in 2010 from Kings College London Institute of Psychiatry. This included both academic and practical competencies required by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Akbar's key value as a therapist is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for clients. To work together to get a better understanding of the main difficulties, in order to work toward a journey of recovery. Akbar has developed expertise in the assessment, delivery and treatment of depression and anxiety disorders.
He also has full accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
